Once the residence of the Francini family—the King's fountain engineers—the grounds were formerly a true French formal garden (jardin à la française), complete with fountains, cascading waters, and beautifully crafted terraces.
Redesigned several times throughout its history, it was transformed into an English landscape park in the 19th century, retaining its romantic spirit ever since.
